Ukraine gets "more" HIMARS, additional missiles and artillery shells - the U.S. is preparing its 16th military aid package
The United States will officially announce a new military aid package for Ukraine this week.
What we know
John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, announced the news. This will be the 16th military aid package for Ukraine since Joe Biden's inauguration in early 2021.
According to Kirby, the United States will continue to send historic amounts of military assistance to Ukraine. The next package will provide the Armed Forces with new multiple-launch rocket systems HIMARS, additional ammunition and artillery shells.
Whether Ukraine will receive this time long-range missiles ATACMS, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 300 km from the launch point, is not specified yet. There is also no information about the number of HIMARS, which will be included in the package. Recall that Ukraine received its first MLRSs from the United States late last month. They were included in the $700 million aid package, which was signed on July 1.
