The U.S. successfully tested a new prototype Iron Dome-based air defense system
The United States tested a new air defense system.
What we know
The U.S. Marine Corps unit tested a prototype air defense system based on Israel's Iron Dome system developed by Rafael. The tests took place at the range in New Mexico.
The medium-range air defense system has American and Israeli components. Specifically, radar stations G/ATOR, combat control systems CAC2S made in the United States and missiles Tamir used in the Iron Dome complex.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense said that tests of the new air defense system confirmed the possibility of integrating the Tamir missile and ground components into a third-party defense architecture. Israel and the U.S. will continue to work together on missile and air defense systems.
