Russian 2S7M "Malka" artillery system is self-destructed - in Russia it is called the world's most powerful howitzer
The Russian 2S7M Malka self-propelled artillery unit got self-denuclearized and demilitarized.
What we know
The artillery piece exploded while firing. The photo shows that the barrel of the 2S7M "Malka" ruptured as a result of the explosion. It is likely that the cause was wear and tear, but poor quality upgrades at the factory cannot be excluded.
the 2S7M Malka is a modernized version of the 2S7 Pion self-propelled artillery unit. It is built on a tracked chassis. The combat vehicle is equipped with 840 horsepower engine and can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h.
The self-propelled artillery unit is equipped with 2A44 203 mm cannon with a maximum rate of fire of one and a half rounds per minute. The range of fire ranges from 8.4 km to 47.5 km. In addition to the main gun 2S7M "Malka" has a 12.7 mm NSVT machine gun.
