Ukraine may receive 11 MiG-29 fighters worth almost €400,000,000
While everyone is discussing the potential possibility of getting F-16 planes after the refurbishment of airfields, there is a much more realistic prospect.
What we know
Slovakia is ready to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. This is reported by Deborah Haynes, editor of Sky News Security and Defense in Bratislava.
At the same time, we can expect another circular exchange. Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad stated that his country is "not big enough" to be able to unilaterally transfer fighter jets to Ukraine. Therefore, it will need an ally who can offer its planes in exchange or monetary compensation.
One MiG-29 is estimated at €35,000,000. So the cost of eleven fighters is €400 000 000. Since the end of August the Slovak Air Force will stop operating these planes, and the Czech Republic and Poland will protect the airspace of the country.
