Ukraine will be the first in the world to use NASAMS to destroy Russian missiles
In the near future Ukraine will receive air defense systems NASAMS and will become the first country in the world that will use them against Russian missiles.
What we known=
Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman of the command of the Air Force of Ukraine, announced this. According to him, getting NASAMS will significantly strengthen the protection of the Ukrainian sky, as the complex can destroy all types of missiles, including Iskander.
NASAMS is a Norwegian surface-to-air missile system, which stands for Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System. The system is developed by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace in cooperation with Raytheon of the US company whose missiles it uses. By the way, so far NASAMS has never been used to destroy Russian missiles. So it will soon make its debut.
NASAMS can hit targets that fly at up to 1000 m/s (3600 km/h). It has a maximum range of 40 km and an altitude of 30 m to 16 km. It takes about 15 minutes to deploy the surface-to-air missile system, and the response time is only 10 seconds.
