F/A-18F Super Hornet fighters, AH-64 Apache helicopters, USS Chaffee and HIMARS made the USS Denver sunk RIMPAC-2022 training (video)
During the international exercise Rim of The Pacific 2022 (RIMPAC-2022), Japan and the United States sent the decommissioned landing craft USS Denver to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
What we know
The ship was about 80 km from the shore. During the exercise the Japanese launched anti-ship Type 12 missiles at the ship and the US attacked it with the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher which was located on the ground.
USS Denver was attacked from the air by US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet fighters with long-range anti-ship missiles. AH-64 Apache helicopters fired air-to-ground missiles at the ship.
The test didn't end there. During the SINKEX exercise, the defense force tested JDAM smart bombs, and the destroyer USS Chaffee attacked the ship with a Mark-45 cannon. The USS Denver went to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean due to its damages.
