Spain will not transfer the Leopard 2A4 to Ukraine - the tanks are in terrible condition and cannot be upgraded
Ukraine should not count on Spain to transfer German Leopard 2A4 tanks.
What we know
A few weeks ago information appeared that Spain could transfer ten Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. However, our country would have to pay for the modernization of the equipment - from €5,000,000 to €15,000,000.
As it turns out, the German tanks are in "deplorable condition" and no modernization will help them any more. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, citing the words of Defense Minister Margarita Robles.
The Spanish defense minister excluded the possibility of sending German equipment to Ukraine, because it is in an absolutely unfavorable position and can pose a threat to life. At the same time, according to Robles, Spain is considering all possible ways to help Ukraine.
