According to Forbes, Cyprus may transfer old air defense systems to Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
Cyprus has agreed with Israel on the delivery of the Iron Dome air defense system, but it still needs U.S. approval .The fact is that 35 years ago the United States imposed an embargo on arms sales to Cyprus. Now they are ready to lift it, but on condition that Cyprus transfers its old air defense systems to Ukraine.
Incidentally, according to Forbes, now there are Russian air defense systems 9K330 "Tor" and air defense systems 9K37 "Buk" in the army of Cyprus. The number of surface-to-air missile systems is not specified.
Flashback
"Tor" is an all-weather tactical anti-aircraft missile system designed to solve problems of anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense at the divisional level. The complex entered service in 1886 and since then has received many modifications.
"Buk" is a family of self-propelled surface-to-air missile systems designed to counter cruise missiles, guided bombs, aircraft, helicopters and UAVs at low and medium altitudes (from 30 m to 14-18 km). "Buk" entered into service in 1979.
