Sweden considers transferring Archer SAMs and RBS 70 man-portable air defense systems to Ukraine

The government of Sweden is considering the possibility of transferring modern weapons to Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

The head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry Ann Linde announced this in Twitter. The matter concerns self-propelled artillery units Archer, as well as anti-aircraft missile system RBS 70.

Flashback

The Archer is a modern Swedish 155 mm self-propelled artillery unit based on Volvo A30D 6×6 chassis. It is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries and bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. The SAU is served by 3-4 men. It can shoot at a distance of up to 60 km.

The RBS 70 is a man-portable surface-to-air missile system developed in Sweden by Bofors Defence (now Saab Bofors Dynamics). The system uses laser guided BOLIDE missiles. They can hit targets at ranges up to 8 km and altitudes up to 5 km. Man-portable air defense system has a recharge time of only 2 seconds.
