Ukraine expects to receive modern tanks of the "NATO" standard from the United States and Germany.

Here's What We Know

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal told about this in an interview with the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur. We are talking about American Abrams tanks and German Leopard 2 tanks.

"We expect the U.S. to supply us with its Abrams tanks and Germany with its Leopard 2 tanks. These are the modern tanks that Ukraine needs on the battlefield."

Abrams is a third-generation main battle tank manufactured by the United States. The tank is named after General Creighton Abrams, former chief of staff of the U.S. Army and commander of the U.S. Armed Forces in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972. The Abrams is a heavily armed, mobile fighting vehicle designed for combat operations in a variety of environments.

The Leopard 2 is a main battle tank manufactured by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. The Leopard 2 is the successor to the Leopard 1 battle tank. Production of the Leopard 2 began in 1979. The tank is in service in Austria, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain and Turkey. Totally 3,200 Leopard 2 tanks were produced.
