The Czech Republic wants to produce Swedish CV90 BMPs at its facilities
We recently wrote that the Czech Republic would buy the state-of-the-art CV90 BMPs from Sweden. As it turned out, the Czechs do not just want to buy machines, but also to produce them at their defense industry enterprises.
Here's What We Know
This was announced by the Czech Ministry of Defense. For the production they want to involve state factory VOP CZ. Apart from participation of Czech defense industry the negotiations on support of the vehicles life cycle are also held.
Recall that the Czech Republic plans to purchase 210 armored vehicles CV90 of different modifications. The vehicles are designed for different missions and have different armament.
Flashback
Development of the CV90 BMP has been conducted since 1984 by Hägglunds company, owned by British BAE Systems, on request of the Swedish Armed Forces, and the production of vehicles started in 1993. Since then, about 1170 BMPs in different versions were produced.
