Qatar received the first Eurofighter Typhoon under a €5 billion contract
BAE Systems has handed over the first Eurofighter Typhoon multirole fighter to Qatar.
What we know
The event was attended by representatives from the British manufacturer and the Qatar Air Force. BAE Systems says it is a milestone for its €5 billion program.
Eurofighter Typhoon is a popular multi-role fighter, which is in service with the air forces of many countries, including Germany, Britain, Austria, and Saudi Arabia. Now Qatar is joining them.
In a few years, the UK Ministry of Defense will upgrade Eurofighter Typhoon-fighters with new radars. More than £2.3 billion ($2.83 billion) has been invested in their development. The European Common Radar System II will be in use until at least 2040.
