New European tank by Nexter and KMW will get Leopard 2A7 chassis and Leclerc firepower
The French company Nexter and German manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann showed the concept of a new European battle tank. It is being developed as part of the Enhanced Main Battle Tank program.

The new fighting vehicle will get the mobility of the German Leopard 2A7 tank and the firepower of the French Leclerc. The power plant capacity, according to preliminary information, will be 1500 hp. The tank will be able to reach speed of 65 km/h on the highway. Maximum cruising range is 460 km. Overall dimensions of the fighting vehicle are 10.45 x 3.85 x 3.24 m and its weight is 61.5 tonnes.
The chassis of the Leopard 2A7 is equipped with a turret of French Leclerc tank. It is equipped with 120 mm L52 cannon with a total of 22 rounds. There is a combat module on the rear where a 30 mm ARX 30 cannon is installed for destruction of air objects. The new European tank gets a Trophy APS dynamic protection and E-LAWS LWS warning system, which alerts the crew about laser irradiation of the fighting vehicle.
