Saab demonstrated for the first time the combat operation of the MSHORAD air defense system
Swedish company Saab, one of the manufacturers of Gripen fighters, demonstrated for the first time the MSHORAD air defense system in action. The demonstration was attended by representatives of 15 nations.
Here's What We Know
The manufacturer offers a complete solution, including the GBAD C2 air defense control system. This was announced by Stefan Öberg, head of Saab Missile Systems. Potential customers have seen five successful applications of the RBS 70 NG mobile launcher based on the MARS-S3230 vehicle. The system has destroyed several targets, including a helicopter airframe and a drone.
In addition to the RBS 70 NG (New Generation) firing unit, the MSHORAD air defense system includes Saab's Giraffe 1X radar. The range of targets is 4-5 km. The system can provide protection if the maximum efficiency of man-portable air defense systems can not be used.
