The Singapore authorities are considering the possibility of acquiring F-35 Lightning II aircraft in A or C modifications. Although the sale of the F-35B has already been approved by the United States.

Here's What We Know

The F-35 Lightning II is available in three versions. The F-35B version, which Singapore has already agreed to buy, features a short takeoff and vertical landing capability. The aircraft is equipped with a 25-mm GAU-22/A cannon.

Singapore is also choosing between F-35A and F-35C variants. The first modification is the simplest from a technological point of view. But it is the basis of exports. But the F-35C is a deck fighter with increased wing and tail area. This allows the plane to maneuver at low altitudes when taking off from an aircraft carrier.

The new plans were announced by Major Zhang Jian Wei, project manager for the development of Singapore's next-generation fighter jet, speaking to the media in Australia. He said Singapore will make a decision when it is ready.

Recall that Singapore has agreed to buy F-35B fighters to replace the F-16C/D multirole fighters. The Fighting Falcon is undergoing modernization now, but they will be decommissioned in 10 years.
