The Pentagon awarded Rolls-Royce two contracts worth nearly $2 billion to supply and repair engines for the T-45 Goshawk, C-130J Super Hercules and KC-130J Hercules
The Defense Department of the United States has signed two contracts with Rolls-Royce, under which the latter will repair, maintain and supply engines for aircraft of the Navy and Marine Corps.
Here's What We Know
Under the first contract Rolls-Royce will provide maintenance and logistics support for more than 200 F405 engines powering Boeing T-45 Goshawk training aircraft for the U.S. Navy. The work will be performed at stations in Mississippi and Texas. The cost of the contract is $1 billion.
The second agreement is to repair Rolls-Royce 2100D3 turbo engines. They are used in the aircraft KC-130J Hercules and C-130J Super Hercules made by Lockheed Martin. The cost of the contract is $854 million. The production will be conducted in the U.S., Canada and Portugal.
