The Ukrainian Armed Forces could have attacked the airfield in Crimea with Ukrainian weapons - only the Grim operational-tactical missile system with a launch range of 500 km can do that
Several hours have passed since information about explosions at a Russian airbase in Crimea surfaced. According to New York Times, the strike on the airfield could have been carried out by Ukrainian weapons. And there is a nuance here.
What we know
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have not confirmed that they were behind the attack on the Russian airbase. However, an unnamed senior Ukrainian military official told New York Times that Ukrainian Forces were behind the strike on the airfield. Moreover, the official noted that only Ukrainian-made weapons were used.
The only weapon that can hit a target at such a distance is the Grim operational-tactical missile system. Recall that the distance from the airfield to the nearest territory under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is approximately 200-230 km, and to Odessa - almost 300 km.
Grim is used to destroy targets at a range of up to 500 km. However, there is still no information on whether the operational-tactical missile system has entered the service of the Ukrainian army.
