Officially: the flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 will be shown on MWC 2018
We have already heard that Samsung has chosen the World Mobile Congress for the presentation of the flagship smartphones Galaxy S9 and S9 +, but only now the rumors have received official confirmation. According to the head of mobile business of the company D-Jay Co., MWC 2018 will also announce the date of the start of sales of new products.
Why wait?
According to available information, outwardly the novelties are not too different from the current models. Some sources indicate a reduction in the diagonal of the display in the Galaxy S9 from 5.8 to 5.65 inches with an unchanged aspect ratio of 18.5: 9. The Galaxy S9 + will receive a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED panel with bends at the sides. The fingerprint scanner will be located under the main camera , so that the eye does not get stained while trying to touch the sensor with your finger.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will not just be an enhanced version of the Galaxy S9. Only a large flagship will get a dual main camera, the amount of RAM can also differ (4 GB in S9 and 6 GB in "plus"). For individual countries, versions with the Snapdragon 845 chip are created, but we will be selling models on the proprietary Exynos 9810 processor . The scanner of an iris of an eye and moisture protection under standard IP68 too in the list. Together with smartphones, the manufacturer will introduce a new docking station DeX Pad, which turns a smartphone into a kind of computer.
MWC 2018 will be held in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1. Most likely, Samsung will hold Galaxy Unpacked presentation on the first or even "zero" day of the exhibition, and sales of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + will begin in the middle or the end of March.
And about the future
Communicating with journalists at CES 2018, the company's representatives also confirmed the work on the bent smartphone. Previously, its announcement is scheduled for the second half of 2018, but to start the gadget you need to solve a number of issues. The announcement of ZTE Axon M showed that just adding a second display (and in the case of Samsung - folding it in half) is not enough for success. At the moment, the Korean giant is working on how to uncover the potential of a flexible display in the user interface.
