Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, an ultra-thin flagship with a thickness of just 5.8 mm, which goes on sale in the US and other countries today, 30 May.

For the first time, the company spoke about the non-standard engineering solutions that made it possible to create such a compact and powerful smartphone.

Here's What We Know

The task of the engineers was not just to make a thin device, but also to preserve the premium user experience characteristic of the Galaxy S line. They tested many prototypes, experimenting with the arrangement of components and internal structures.

Samsung has developed a new mounting system that allows parts to be positioned with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. To avoid overheating of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, engineers have updated the cooling system by adding a new steam chamber and for the first time using a special "hole design": part of the front metal frame was removed to allow heat to be dissipated faster.

The main camera was made more compact - its thickness was reduced by more than 10%, optimising autofocus and stabilisation. Thanks to the dual-layer design, the module has become lower, but the image quality has not suffered.

The Galaxy S25 Edge has only 3900 mAh. Samsung calls it "smart" and promises all-day battery life thanks to optimised power consumption and adaptation to usage scenarios. Samsung promises that the Galaxy S25 Edge will withstand a full day of active use - from streaming to gaming to shooting.
