Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge - the smartphone has a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor "for Galaxy", despite previous rumours of a stripped-down version. The company decided not to save on performance, instead reducing the battery capacity.

Here's What We Know

At the Galaxy S25 Edge teaser stage at Galaxy Unpacked, there were speculations that the smartphone would receive a less productive version of the 7-core chip. But in the end, Samsung relied on performance: the device is powered by the improved Snapdragon 8 Elite, specially adapted for the Galaxy series. This means not only close cooperation with Qualcomm, but also overclocking the chip for better performance.

However, this came at the cost of a smaller battery. While most 2025 flagships have 5000mAh batteries, the Galaxy S25 Edge has only 3900mAh. Samsung calls it "smart" and promises all-day battery life thanks to optimised power consumption and adaptation to usage scenarios.

Despite the modest battery capacity, Samsung promises that the Galaxy S25 Edge will last a full day of active use - from streaming to gaming to shooting. A variant with a more advanced silicon-carbon battery would be more interesting, but it seems that the company is not yet ready to implement this technology in experimental models.

Galaxy S25 Edge is already available for pre-order. The model will go on sale on 30 May. The 256GB version costs $1,099.
The 512GB version costs $1,219.
