The U.S. has created the Angry Kitten machine-learning-based electronic warfare system for fighter jets

American specialists have developed a system Angry Kitten based on the available means of electronic warfare.

What we know

Often the names of military technologies inspire fear. For example, missiles Hellfire or strike drones MQ-9 Reaper. But in the case of the new electronic warfare system, the developers came at a different angle. The name Angry Kitten will be hard to scare the enemy.

This technology has been around for several years, but previously it was used only in exercises to simulate the work of enemy jamming equipment. After the positive results of using Angry Kitten, the U.S. Air Force decided to create four combat versions of the system.

Angry Kitten uses machine learning. It helps select the most effective way to jam enemy assets and estimate the enemy's response to jamming. The system was tested in April 2022 on 30 combat sorties. The software is open source, and the military is helping to update it. Final tests of Angry Kitten took place in China Lake, California.
