Rheinmetall will upgrade 30 Marder BMPs by September as part of a circular arms exchange scheme to support Ukraine
In June information appeared that Germany is able to transfer several dozen infantry fighting vehicles Marder to Ukraine. Now everything is going to the point that anyone will get them, but not our country.
What we know
German company Rheinmetall is modernizing 30 combat vehicles Marder. This was officially announced by CEO Armin Pappenger. Work on the modernization of 30 armored vehicles should be completed by September 2022.
Marder in modification 1A3 will be sent to other countries, which in turn will be able to transfer their own equipment to Ukraine. It is very likely the upgraded German Marder will go to Greece, and Greece will supply 20-30 of its BMP-1s to Ukraine. That is the circle of combat vehicles in Europe.
