The Ukrainian military burned an advanced Russian R-439-MD2 satellite communications station, the first confirmation of the destruction of such equipment
The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed the R-439-MD2 communications satellite station, which once belonged to the Russian army.
What we know
The hardware of the station is installed on the wheeled chassis K1Sh1, which in turn was developed on the basis of an armored personnel carrier BTR-80. R-439-MD2 is used for providing units with satellite communications, establishing classified telephone communications and data transmission under radio barriers.
The R-439-MD2 was destroyed by Ukrainian soldiers back in April 2022 in the Chernihiv region, but photos of the station have only now appeared. This is the first confirmation of the destruction of such equipment since Russia's large-scale invasion in Ukraine.
