To strike military facilities in Ukraine, Russia used the most advanced hypersonic rockets "Kynzhal" - Ukrainian air defense is not yet able to shoot them down
On August 7, Russia struck military facilities on the territory of the Vynnytsa Region. It turned out that hypersonic Kh-47M "Kynzhal" missiles were used. This is reported by the press service of the command of the Air Force of the AFU.
What we know
The command noted that the main carrier of "Kynzhal" hypersonic missiles is the MiG-31 fighter, but they can also be used by Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers. "Kinzhal" is the most modern type of missiles in service with the Russian army.
Unfortunately, the Ukrainian air defense system is not yet able to counteract such missiles effectively. Kinzhal can reach a speed of up to 12,000 km/h, and the weight of the warhead is 500 kg.
The only good thing in this situation is that Russia does not have a large number of missiles of this type. Since February 24, 2022 there have been only a few combat uses of the Kh-47M KINZHAL. The Russian army is trying to use the missiles exclusively to destroy extremely important targets.
