The Ukrainian Armed Forces showed a rare video of destroying a Russian tank with a single direct hit from a D-30 howitzer
The Armed Forces of Ukraine showed a master class on the use of the ancient D-30 howitzers, which were first adopted into service in 1960 (in the USSR).
What we know
It is quite a rare event for a Soviet 122-mm D-30 gun destroying a tank with a single direct hit. The fighters of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did their best in this case.
As for the D-30 cannon, its development was completed at the end of the 50s of the XX century, several years before the adoption by the USSR army. The 122-mm howitzer has gone through many wars during this time. In particular, in Lebanon, Western Sahara, Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf, Yugoslavia, Karabakh (twice), Somalia, Congo, Nigeria, Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
