General Dynamics received an order for production of 250 Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 modern tanks for Poland, contract value is $1.148 billion

The American company General Dynamics has received an order to produce Abrams tanks for the Polish Armed Forces.

It is about the production of 250 Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 tanks. The cost of the contract is $1.148 billion. The first deliveries should start in 2025. The combat vehicles will go to the 18th Mechanized Division named after General Tadeusz Buk.

"The M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams is the most advanced main battle tank in the world, and we look forward to getting it into the hands of Polish soldiers," General Dynamics said in a press release.

The Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 is the most advanced modification of the tank. It has increased power generation and distribution, improved communications and networking, a new control system, and line-replaceable modules for improved maintenance. Prototypes of the M1A2 SEPv3 began testing in 2015. The first units were released in July 2020.
