Germany is negotiating the purchase of Israeli Arrow-3 (Hetz-3) anti-missile systems.

Here's What We Know

Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid confirmed the talks, but they did not disclose any details about the possible deal. During a conversation with journalists, Scholz said that against the background of Russian aggression, Germany is investing €100 billion in strengthening the country's defense capabilities. Part of this sum may be allocated for creation of a united system of anti-aircraft defense of the European Union.

Arrow-3 is an anti-aircraft missile system produced by Israel Aircraft Industries and developed by the Israel Missile Defense Organization and the US Agency for Missile Defense. It is designed to destroy enemy missiles at altitudes up to 100 kilometers and to intercept ballistic targets outside the atmosphere.
