An attacker stole hundreds of NFTs from OpenSea users and sold them for $1,700,000
The marketplace reported the theft of more than two hundred non-fungible tokens as a result of a phishing attack. 17 users were affected.
What is known
NFT owners were sent emails with a malicious link. The text dealt with the migration of NFT to a new smart contract. No activity in relation to the malicious contract was recorded for almost two days.
Initially, it was reported that 32 NFT owners suffered from a phishing attack, and the damage exceeded $200,000,000. This information was denied by David Finzer, head of OpenSea. According to him, 32 token holders interacted with the scammer's address, but only 17 people became victims of the attack. The total damage turned out to be several times lower - on the attacker's wallet $ 1,700,000 in the Ethereum cryptocurrency.
