An earlier version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 for the PSP has appeared online

In the diology of Star Wars: Battlefront from scratch was to appear the third part - the development was in full swing, builds were formed, but eventually the game was canceled. Now there is an interesting twist in this story, someone found an early version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 for PlayStation Portable, and later it turned out that this game came out.

At the heart of the case is a post on Reddit. Someone under the nickname Miis Feepit says: once upon a time, a relative of her fiancé worked at Lucas Arts and tested games. One of them was Star Wars: Battleftont 3. When the game was canceled, all things related to the project were sent to Skywalker Ranch.

But one test drive was forgotten and the groom Miss Feepit kept it to himself. The build worked well: you could play AI ports, capture the flag and "Conquest" - the main mode in Battlefront.

Miss Feepit attached photos of the disc and the build launched on the PSP to the post. There really is the name Star Wars: Battlefront III, but commentators have recognized in the pictures another game - Star Wars: Elite Squadron. No one canceled it - it was released in October 2009 for PSP and Nintendo DS.

Here begins the second part of the story: Elite Squadron was once called Star Wars: Battlefront 3, but the PSP version was prepared separately from home devices. She successfully went through all the stages of development and even survived the death of the main Battlefront 3, which occurred sometime in 2008.

It is believed that the work of Battlefront 3 passed to Rebellion Studios. In 2007, she released the spin-off Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron for the PSP - apparently Lucas Arts was a pleased collaboration. With the participation of Rebellion, the portable version of Battlefont 3 was renamed Elite Squadron, a few models and systems were moved from Renegade Squadron and released.

On Reddit write that from Battleftont 3 in Elite Squadron there are some assets, game features, characters and plot. It turns out that Miss Feepit got a collection of not a dead game, but a very live one. But this is such an early version that then Elite Squadron was called Battlefront 3.

In the comments, Miss Feppit is strongly advised to create an image of the disc and post it on the Web - so that the collection can be seen by anyone and to preserve the gaming industry. Who knows, suddenly in this version there are some more that shed light on the fate of Battlefront 3?
