Final Fantasy VII Remake will retain all locations from the original
IN conversation with the Japanese edition of Famitsu as the producer of the remake Final Fantasy VII Yoshinori Kitase and manager Tetsuya Nomura revealed details about the production of the game line. For example, the team could not decide whether to place the story in a trilogy or a dilogy.
According to the words Nomura , the developers did not name the exact number of parts of the remake for a long time, simply because they did not know their exact number. "From the very beginning, I planned a trilogy, but Kitase offered to "take a closer look at the idea of investing in two parts", - the manager mentions. However, having completed the work on Remake , they realized that they could not do without a couple of games.
Final Fantasy VII Remake , which came out, covers only the beginning of the story. If the authors of the project are to be believed, nothing will be cut from the next two.
The only thing that the team can change is the order of visiting certain locations or the context around them.
The experts also clarified that they do not plan to update other projects from the group yet FFVII , with the exception of the announced one Crisis Core . The authors had plans for a remake Dirge of Cerberus and Before Crisis — for the last one Square Enix even tried to calculate the cost of development. However, they should not be expected in the near future.
The second volume under the title Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released in late 2023 on PlayStation 5.
