Samsung shipped almost 10 million foldable phones last year

The foldable mobile phone market is gradually but steadily maturing, which is evident in sales figures. Samsung Mobile's TM President Roh wrote a new blog article in which he stated that the foldable smartphone industry shipped almost 10 million units in 2021. The number is up 300 percent from 2020 and Roh believes this trend will continue into the future as "foldable devices establish a stronger presence across the entire smartphone industry." According to IDC, there will be 7.1 million foldable shipments in 2021.

According to Roh, the most popular folding phone from Samsung is the Z Flip3, which was adopted by 70% of Galaxy foldable users last year. Multitasking and a big screen experience are preferred by users that need multitasking and require the bigger display experience.

Roh also says Samsung made significant improvements in every aspect with its forthcoming foldables, which are scheduled to debut on August 10 at the next Galaxy Unpacked event.
