To develop Orion, the next game in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, 500 people will be needed. It will be created by CD Projekt RED North America
On October 4, CD Project Red announced the next game in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe codenamed Orion. The company has already discussed the game development process. This became known from the material of 80.lv. So let's analyze what is currently known about the creation of Orion?
Here's What We Know
The development will be handled by the newly created CD Projekt RED North America division. The division will include developers from Poland and Vancouver, and the studio will be based in Boston. The core of the team will be the developers of the original Cyberpunk 2077, including the leading quest designer Pawel Sasko, who will lead the studio.
During a meeting with investors, the developers said that 350 to 500 developers are needed to create Orion. This was stated by the CFO of CD Projekt Red Piotr Nielubowicz:
"As for the total headcount required for such a production, I believe the best reference is Cyberpunk 2077, our most recent release and a good reference point when thinking about development headcount and future projects of this scale. I think it’s safe to assume that between 350 and 500 developers should be required"
The studio has already published a list of vacancies on its website to gather this number of developers as soon as possible.
Flashback
The figure of 500 developers has recently appeared in the information space for the second time. Before that, a former Bethesda developer said that at least 500 people are working on Starfield.
