The planes were at the Royal Air Force's Lakenheath Air Base in the United Kingdom. The U.S. Air Force command decided to move the fighters to central Poland at Łask base.
The number of planes transferred from Great Britain to Poland is not specified. The publication of the U.S. Air Force Command in Europe notes only that the F-15E Strike Eagle will perform deterrence operations on NATO's eastern flank.
