Ingenuity helicopter made its 36th flight over the Ezero crater on Mars

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) does not stop launching the Martian unmanned helicopter Ingenuity.

Here's What We Know

On Dec. 10, the drone flew 10 meters above the surface of Ezero Crater. The flight took 60.5 seconds. During this time the Martian drone was able to overcome 110 meters. Note that in the 35th flight, which took place about two weeks ago, the helicopter set an altitude record by flying 14 meters.

According to the logbook, the Ingenuity has already covered 7,517 meters since 2021, staying in the air for a total of one hour and one minute. The drone was flown to Mars along with the Perseverance rover, which traveled 13.73 kilometers.

The record of the distance travelled on the surface of celestial bodies outside Earth was also set on the Red Planet. It belongs to the rover Opportunity. Since 2004, for 14 years, the rover has covered more than 48 km.
