Google has released an update for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro that addresses heat and rapid charge loss
On 12 May, Google released a problematic update for five smartphones. A few days later, an update was released that fixes everything.
Here's What We Know
The May 12 update brought a new security patch to the operating system. However, owners of the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro started reporting that the smartphones were losing power quickly and heating up significantly. Although we now realise that these events may have nothing to do with each other.
The company has confirmed that the problem was with the Google app, as suspected. However, the new update is deployed on the server side and does not require user intervention.
This wording means that the problem of overheating and rapid charge loss could have affected all Android smartphones. However, no one has reported the malfunction except the owners of the aforementioned Google models.
