Media: Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive German upgraded Fuchs armoured personnel carriers

The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive upgraded versions of German Fuchs armoured personnel carriers, the ESUT newspaper has reported.

According to the source, the armoured personnel carriers will be upgraded in Ukraine at a joint venture of Rheinmetall and UkrOboronProm. After that, the APC will be handed over to the troops. The joint venture is expected to be launched in mid-July. Then Rheinmetall is going to localise production of the combat vehicles in Ukraine.

The Fuchs is a German wheeled amphibious armoured personnel carrier. It was adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1979. The Fuchs was originally developed by Daimler-Benz, but later the production was transferred to Rheinmetall. Armored Personnel Carrier has different modifications and is in service in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.
