Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy Russian Buk-M1-2 surface-to-air missile system
The Ukrainian Defence Forces have destroyed a Buk-M1-2 surface-to-air missile launcher. The target was hit in the south of Ukraine on the border of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.
Here's What We Know
The Russian army's surface-to-air missile system was detected by an unmanned aerial vehicle. Although Buk is designed to destroy aerial targets, including drones, it failed to hit the Ukrainian drone.

It is not yet specified which weapon was used to destroy the surface-to-air missile system. Judging by the effects, it is likely that high-precision 155mm SMArt or BONUS ammunition was used. In a lucky set of circumstances, such munitions can destroy two targets at once.
Both munitions have two cluster warheads. They detach on approach to the target and drop from above. The SMArt 155 is lowered using a parachute system, while the 155 BONUS is equipped with wings. Ammunition speed is reduced while the target is being attacked.
