100% success - HIMARS destroys four Russian Msta-S self-propelled howitzers with four GMLRS shells

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have demonstrated what the M142 HIMARS highly mobile artillery system was designed to do. The Defence Forces destroyed a quartet of Russian Msta-S howitzers using the US system.

Here's What We Know

Ukraine received the HIMARS in late June 2022. Since then, the Defence Forces have been using the missile systems to complicate the logistics of the Russian army. However, the HIMARS was designed primarily to destroy enemy artillery due to its increased range.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has published a video of the destruction of four Russian Msta-S howitzers by four GMLRS rocket launchers. The artillery pieces were tracked down using a drone, which was then able to transmit the enemy's coordinates.

The GMLRS has a maximum launch range of approximately 80km. At the same time, Ukraine needs long-range weapons. First of all it is about American tactical ballistic missiles ATACMS. They will allow strikes of almost 300 km.

The chances of receiving ATACMS have recently increased. This was stated by Senator James Risch, head of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, in an interview with Voice of America.
