Rheinmetall to open plant to produce and repair armoured vehicles in Ukraine within 3 months

German defence concern Rheinmetall is going to open an armoured vehicle plant in Ukraine.

CEO Armin Papperger told CNN in an interview. The plant will be inaugurated in the next 12 weeks. It will be located in western Ukraine.

“Ukrainians have to help themselves — if they always have to wait for Europeans or Americans to help them over the next 10 or 20 years… that is not possible,”- said Papperger.

The plant plans to produce and repair armored vehicles. It is not yet clear what kind of equipment is being produced, but Papperger previously said that Rheinmetall wants to produce modern Panther KF51 tanks in Ukraine. We are talking about 400 units a year.
