According to SteamDB, 104 thousand people played Cities: Skylines II was played by 104 thousand people. However, the real number on PC is higher, as the game has also been available on Game Pass since its release.
However, Skylines II has received mixed reviews. Most players complain about the optimisation, where it is simply unrealistic to get 60 fps. Some even joke that the situation can be fixed by the Nasa computer, but it will only run the game at 50 frames at most. However, part of the audience still says that poor optimisation is not a reason to lower the score, because the gameplay itself is quite interesting.
Although the game's optimisation (or rather lack thereof) is not a surprise, as Paradox Interactive warned gamers about the imperfect technical condition of Cities: Skylines II and promised to fix the situation promptly.
Currently, the game has 76 points on Metacritic. Journalists agreed that Skylines 2 has a great foundation, but now the game needs serious improvements.
