Spain, together with SILAM launchers, is buying more than 600 missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometres for $440 million
We've already written that Spain will buy more than a dozen SILAM launchers based on Israel's PULS multiple rocket launcher. But in a classified contract that has been in the public domain for a couple of hours, there is also information about the purchase of missiles.
Here's What We Know
The 16 launchers will be mounted on Iveco 8x8 chassis. But the integration of new platforms into the Talos control system Spain will spend more than $2 million. Together with the launchers Madrid orders almost 700 missiles of different ranges:
- up to 15 kilometres (training, 216 pieces);
- up to 35 kilometres (288);
- up to 150 kilometres (112);
- up to 300 kilometres (ballistic, 64).
The Spanish government will spend less than $440 million to buy hundreds of missiles of different types and 16 launchers, while the total budget of the SILAM (Sistema de Lanzacohetes de Alta Movilidad) programme is $740 million.
