Sony plans to release 25 million PlayStation 5 consoles in fiscal 2023
The PlayStation 5 has been incredibly successful for Sony and, despite being on the market for three years, 2023 could be the most important year for it - the company plans to release 25 million consoles during the financial year.
Here's What We Know
This was announced by Eric Lempel, Head of Business Operations, in an interview with CNBC:
"This holiday season is the first holiday season we will be fully stocked on PlayStation 5 in every geography. We launched back in 2020. We suffered from the same supply chain issues that everybody was dealing with. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to deliver PS5 to every consumer that wanted one.".
According to Lempel, by balancing supply and demand, Sony hopes to achieve "record sales" this holiday season. Of course, the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is also playing its part in stimulating demand.
