France announces the creation of a "missile" coalition for Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron announces that the allies will create a coalition to provide long-range weapons for Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

According to Macron, Ukraine's allies will supply Kyiv with medium- and long-range missiles. This is to enable the Armed Forces of Ukraine to launch deep strikes behind enemy lines. He also added that an intensive dialogue with partners will be held in the near future.

The coalition will involve not only European countries, the United States and Canada, but also countries from other parts of the world.

It is not yet known what kind of weapons we are talking about. However, it is most likely to be the Anglo-French SCALP EG/Storm Shadow cruise missiles, which Ukraine is already receiving. The Ukrainian Air Force has long been using these missiles to hit important Russian military targets.

Flashback

The SCALP EG/Storm Shadow is an air-to-ground missile designed to destroy stationary targets that are well protected by air defences.
