Resident Evil and The Evil Within creator Shinji Mikami has founded new studio KAMUY

In 2023, renowned game designer Shinji Mikami (Mikami Shinji), known as one of the creators of the iconic Resident Evil series, left his own studio Tango Gameworks.

The Japanese studio under Mikami's leadership produced two instalments of The Evil Within, the mystical action game Ghostwire: Tokyo and the hit rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush. All these projects were warmly welcomed by gamers and critics, the more surprising it seemed Mikami's decision to leave Tango Gameworks.

As it turned out, Shinji Mikami opened a new studio on 5 October 2023. He hasn't officially introduced it yet, but it is known that the company was named KAMUY.

Mention of the new studio appeared on the website of the remaster of Shadows of the Damned: Hella, which is expected to be released in 2024, and Mikami, remember, took part in the creation of the original version of the game.

It is likely that the official introduction of KAMUY will take place soon, as there is no point in hiding this information.
