Argentina may soon buy F-16s from Denmark
The Argentine government is close to signing a contract for the purchase of used F-16 fighter jets from Denmark.
Here's What We Know
The deal may be announced at the end of April this year during a meeting of the defence ministers of both countries. The purchase of F-16s will give Argentina the ability to defend its airspace and improve the overall condition of its air force.
At the same time, Argentine President Javier Milei shared on X/Twitter that the country had already signed an agreement to purchase the aircraft. Earlier, he categorically refused to purchase Chinese JF-17 fighters, which were agreed upon by the previous government.
It is expected that 24 F-16A/B MLU fighters will be purchased for $338 million, as well as a $312 million weapons package, including AIM-9 Sidewinders and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. The agreement also provides for significant investments in infrastructure, including the modernisation of the 6th Aviation Brigade's facilities.
