Multi-layer battery technology could be missing from the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
According to information from South Korean publications last April, Samsung has started testing new, multi-layer batteries for mobile devices. The new technology is reported to offer higher energy density with a different cell arrangement, which will improve the battery life of Galaxy flagships.

The new battery technology, as well as the more powerful 65W charging, was expected in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the company's flagship for this year, but was likely not ready yet. In light of recent rumours, Samsung may be dropping this technology in its next flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
According to rumours from insider @Sawyergalox, Samsung may delay the introduction of compacted batteries and faster charging until 2026. The new batteries could appear in the Galaxy S26 Ultra flagships. The reason for this decision appears to be a desire to reduce the cost of the device. It is important to note that electric car manufacturers are already using this new technology.
It seems that it was in the plan, but Samsung changed its mind, wanting to reduce costs and put the stacked battery and 65w charging speed in the S26U.

Despite this, the current Galaxy S24 Ultra flagship is still one of the best among Android and iPhone devices in terms of battery life. It was previously expected that this year's flagship would feature a larger 5,500 mAh battery. However, even with the same technology and capacity, the Galaxy S24 Ultra offers much improved battery life thanks to the more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
Perhaps the next Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip will be the reason for the delayed improvements in other aspects. This chip will cost more than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with the current flagship already costing $1,300.
