The US will provide Ukraine with sensors that will enable missiles to defeat Russian electronic warfare
The United States has purchased sensors for Ukraine that will be used to equip Ukraine's JDAM-ER bombs, which will allow them to defeat electronic warfare systems.
Here's What We Know
The Home-on GPS sensors that will be installed on JDAM-ER bombs will give the Ukrainian military a better chance of resisting the occupier. The sensors, manufactured by Scientific Applications and Research Associates, will enable the bombs to accurately target electronic warfare targets, making strikes much more effective and precise.
This step by the US is a response to the challenges faced by the Ukrainian military in the face of the growing threat from Russian electronic warfare systems. For example, as previously reported, Western precision-guided munitions are affected by Russian GPS jamming systems.
The Home-on GPS system should allow Ukrainian JDAM-ERs to target GPS jammers.
