Samsung may ditch AMD's technology in favour of its own GPU for the Galaxy S26
Samsung, which has received a lot of criticism for its underperforming Exynos chips over the years, seems to be improving its performance. The Exynos 2400 chip is significantly better than previous Exynos chips. Thanks in part to a powerful new GPU created in collaboration with AMD, Samsung was able to achieve this result. However, Samsung may abandon AMD's developments in favour of its own GPU for the Galaxy S26.
Here's What We Know
According to a reliable informant @rquandt, Samsung is developing the next generation Exynos chip, which has the model number S5E9955 and is based on AMD's RDNA GPU. Further, the South Korean company is rumoured to be planning a next-generation processor for the Galaxy S26 smartphone, which is expected to have its own graphics chip as well. This means that Samsung will ditch AMD's graphics processors in favour of its own.
Umm... so there's S5E9945 right? (Exynos 2400)

And then there's S5E9955, which follows after that.
Exynos 2400 has an AMD GPU. The follow-up will have an AMD GPU, too, it seems.
After that, in 2026, Samsung seems to aim for the release of a next-gen flagship SoC feat it's own GPU.
Samsung is rumoured to be developing a pretty powerful and efficient processor for the Galaxy S25. It will be made using Samsung's second-generation 3nm process technology. Rumours claim that it could be such a significant improvement over previous chips that Samsung may even use a new name and stop using the Exynos brand.
The company has apparently set up a separate team of over 1,000 engineers to work with the System LSI team on joint development and optimisation. If the company manages to achieve its goal, it will be a big and important development.
