Arkane founder Rafael Colantonio criticised Microsoft's decision to shut down Arkane Studios and called the corporation short-sighted
The heated discussion about the closure of Bethesda's four studios continues.
We have already written True Japanese brevity: Tango Gameworks founder Shinji Mikami commented on the studio's closure Shinji Mikami. The former head of Arkane Studios Raphael Colantonio could not but speak out.
Here's What We Know
Although Colantonio left Arkane in 2017, the news of the Arkane Austin division's closure left him disappointed and perplexed. He refrained from making harsh remarks, but called Microsoft a "short-sighted company."
Microsoft, with its endless money, could have waited for Arkane Austin's new success [with a new game] to come for sure. And this decision will cost Microsoft valuable credit for gamers' trust and reinforce the image of an evil corporation. A bad and very strange move.
Emotions aside (future tweet), MS proves to be short sighted in that instance, they have infinite money and could have waited for Arkane Austin to do it again, which they would have. It will cost valuable Gamer Credits to MS and reinforce the evil corp image. Bad move. Baffling

Arkane Austin is known for games like Prey (2017) and Deathloop, as well as helping French colleagues develop two instalments of Dishonored. All of these games received high praise, but the failure of Redfall reversed all of the developer's success.
