Apple announces major CarPlay updates in upcoming iOS 18: colour filters, voice control and sound recognition

Apple has officially announced a preview of the new features that will be available in iOS 18, scheduled for release alongside iPhone 16 in September 2024.

One of the key innovations is the introduction of new accessibility features for CarPlay. They include colour filters for colour-blind people, voice control, and sound recognition for users with hearing impairments. Colour filters will help visually impaired users, while voice control will simplify the CarPlay interface through voice commands.

The update will also include improved integration with Siri, with new features and interactivity. In addition, there will be new options for customising the home screen, an updated design, and Chat GPT in the user interface.

The iOS 18 update along with new CarPlay features is expected to be available to all iPhone owners in September 2024. Apple is also working on new glass morphing icons and icons with shadows and depth similar to VisionOS.
